Editors and Literary Agents: Why They’re Just Not That Into You
Want to intrigue that agent or editor? Then make your work feel like the hot date that he or she simply can’t resist, writes the staff at the Writer’s Relief blog. (This is not an endorsement of the author submission service. I know nothing about it. But the blog post rings true.)

Many of the comments on the blog sound like they were written by frustrated aspiring authors who miss the point of the article. If you want to be noticed by an agent or publisher, you have to do as the author of the blog post says, “dig deep and find your own personal X factor.” And you need to do this starting with the query letter and sample chapters. Writing a romantic thriller? So are thousands of others, and much of the work is well written. How will your manuscript stand out?

Mulholland Books and Rockstar Games Work Together
That’s right, Rockstar Games, creator of Grand Theft Auto and other videogames, will collaborate with Mulholland Books, an imprint of Little, Brown and Company, to publish an anthology of stories based on the upcoming videogame L.A. Noire. The anthology will be titled L.A. Noire: The Collected Stories. Mulholland Books publishes suspense, mysteries, and thrillers. If ever there was an example of the changing book industry, a merger of video games and publisher to put out books is it.

I love thrillers and mystery novels and although I never got into videogames I have enjoyed an online PC game or two. I see how the two can coincide artistically and actually find this idea forward-thinking and exciting.
